August 2022

After several years of planning, site works have started on Foundation 61’s ‘House of Hope’. Foundation 61 is a not-for-profit community-based charity. For many years they have provided a live-in community in Mount Duneed which offers drug and alcohol rehabilitation for up to 15 men at a time.

To run alongside the men’s program, the ‘House of Hope’ is a women-only rehab facility which has the capacity for 8 women (and their children if required) to receive full accommodation and 24-hour support.

The project is supported by the local community and businesses with monetary donations, as well as labour and materials. Barwon Timber and Bar-Truss are two of these businesses. We will be donating material through Barwon Timber for walls which are being stick framed on-site. Bar-Truss will be providing the pre-fab roof trusses.

The current target is for the construction to be completed this year and the first residents able to move in early 2023. If you would like to learn more or follow the progress on the project, follow the Foundation 61 Facebook page as it is updated regularly.
